| December 2005 - Our Christmas Thought | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|
Are you willing to stoop down and consider the needs and desires of little children; to remember the weaknesses and loneliness of people who are growing old; to stop asking how much your friends love you, and to ask yourself whether you love them enough; to bear in mind the things that other people have to bear on their hearts; to trim your lamp so that it will give more light and less smoke, and to carry it in front so that your shadow will fall behind you; to make a grave for your ugly thoughts and a garden for your kindly feelings, with the gate open? Are you willing to do these things for a day? Then you are ready to keep Christmas! HENRY VAN DYKE (18521933) |

Living in the forest will often limit your view of a beautiful sunrise or sunset. But there are a few occasions, when conditions are just right, that fill the sky with color. Fortunate are those that have the opportunity to view this spectacular introduction to a new day. |

This Spring-flowering spiny (absolutely wicked) shrub of the rose family with glossy and often lobed leaves, white or pink fragrant flowers, and small red fruits, provides a safe haven for a variety of birds. |

| Although it's been a long winter and it seems as though the warmer weather will never come, one of the sure signs of spring is the return of the Tufted Titmouse. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Congratulations to Jennifer Ann Dotson and Nathan Seth Nieding who will become Husband and Wife on April 18th, 2006.
Not all good pictures come from a single photograph. This poster size print 24" by 38" is made from a collection of 5 unrelated digital files taken over a two year period (reflections in a pond, Nate, Jennifer and two individual wallet sized school pictures of Jake and Brad, Jennifer's boys). I think you would agree it's composed in such a way that a caption is hardly necessary. One of my better report covers Nate... Don't you think? |

| Not being a bird expert , I believe this to be a Cooper's Hawk... and yes I'm not really into photographing birds however this is a unique opportunity... he's visiting and the camera is close at hand.
I wonder where all the other birds have gone? |

| Living in the forest is not an easy life. It’s a great place to raise children because there are lots of chores that need tending to and extra hands are always welcome. Trips into town are infrequent and must be carefully planned. It does have its moments though… like in the early morning hours when starlight coming through the window awakens you, it just might be worth getting dressed and taking a walk outside. |

| Photo of the Month - November 2007 - The Last Holdout | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| There is one Quaking Aspen located by a small pond that is always the last tree in the forest to loose its leaves when all others have succumbed to the season. This has been observed for the last 8 years. Nature cannot jump from winter to summer without a spring, or from summer to winter without a fall... yet this little tree, for whatever reason, is sure going to try. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
